Undergraduate Students

CANdiLab is always looking for top-performing undergraduate students

If you have good marks and a strong interest in psychological research, we’d love to have you join the CANdiLab team!

Ontario Tech undergraduate students can contribute to all aspects of CANdiLab projects, including background research, the design and conceptualization of experimental studies, the collection and management of data, and the analysis and interpretation of experimental data. This involvement offers a fun and valuable way to learn how psychological research is undertaken, and to gain the hands-on research experience that graduate schools look for in their incoming students.

Please keep in mind that interest in working in the lab is high and that lab positions are highly competitive.

To participate in CANdiLab, you must:

  • maintain at least a 3.6 GPA, and
  • be willing to commit at least 8 hours a week for two to three academic terms.

In addition, preference is given to students:

  • who contact us prior to their 3rd year of study
  • whose primary major is psychology, life sciences or computational sciences
  • who are interested in pursuing a career in one of these disciplines

Students generally begin by working with a graduate student on an existing research study. However, many undergraduates progress to increasingly individualized projects as they gain experience and seniority in the lab.

We typically recruit students during the summer, preferably before their 3rd year. If you are interested in seeing how you might be involved please complete the CANdiLab Undergraduate RA Volunteer Application Form.
